Charles Fazzino and the Olympics charles-fazzino-1

Brief: In need of a very special cover for Diplomat magazine’s 65th birthday

Solution: Commission official artist for the USA Olympic team, American 3D Pop artist Charles Fazzino to create a cover for Diplomat. Also while Charles was visiting London during the Olympics I was officially asked to be his media representative.

Including organising a summer workshop for him at the American School in London (ASL) where we also promoting Diplomat to the school, we received over 10 pieces of editorial press for Charles and his exhibition.

Charles spent his first few days in London signing his limited edition Olympic series at the Proctor and Gamble family home, even before Charles arrived in London a purchase of one of the limited editions was made by the CEO of P&G. Charles was also invited by the United States Olympic Committee to sign his Olympic Art Collection at The USA House, (a temporary VIP hospitality location for Team USA based at the Royal College of Arts). Five pieces of Fazzino Olympic art were on display there (Sydney, Athens, Beijing and two London editions)

ASL Workshop

Charles is a huge advocate for promoting art education in schools and generously donated the morning of Friday 3rd to host an interactive art workshop for students at ASL. The Fazzino team began the morning by giving students, ranging in ages from 5 to 16, pieces of paper to be later glued round the frame of a completed piece of Fazzino 3D pop art. Students were asked to think and draw their favorite place in London. Throughout the next few hours Charles showed each child how to use the special silicon glue which when applied to the separate cut out pieces creates the 3D effect. The 4ft x 4ft masterpiece has been donated by Fazzino and his team to ASL and it now hangs outside the Head of School’s office.
